Worst Festival of All Time: Picket Line

Join us at 5:00pm on Thursday, September 26th, to protest an anti-abortion fundraiser being hosted at the Union League Club of Chicago. Specifically, the fundraiser we are protesting benefits Aid for Women, a network of anti-abortion crisis pregnancy centers (CPCs) in the Chicagoland area.

Two new anti-abortion CPCs have opened in the city of Chicago over the past year, bringing the total number to five. You read that correctly–there are FIVE anti-abortion centers in Chicago. Not to mention that there are at least 97 in the state of Illinois, a number that continues to grow as anti-abortion groups target abortion seekers coming to our state to access medical care. Anti-abortion CPCs are running The Worst Festival of All Time, and we’re calling on all people who believe in bodily autonomy to join us in protest.

Aid for Women, which is hosting its annual fundraiser on September 26th, operates six anti-abortion CPCs in the state of Illinois, including one in downtown Chicago and a newer location in Edgewater. CPCs are anti-abortion organizations, usually 501(c)(3) faith-based nonprofits, that target pregnant people with deceptive and misleading information in order to prevent them from seeking abortion care. Many of these CPCs also use “non-diagnostic” and pseudo-medical services to trick people into thinking that they are unbiased healthcare providers.

If you are living in or visiting the Chicago area and believe in full bodily autonomy for all people, then we need you at this event! It is critical that we show the Union League Club of Chicago that they are supporting racist, sexist, anti-abortion bigotry by hosting this event every year.
